Your mission field may be closer than you think.

Following Jesus doesn’t always require adding more activity, joining another program, or creating a new ministry.

Sometimes it begins by looking again at the life you already have.

The people you already know.
The places you already go.
The things you already do.
The resources already in your hands.

Maybe you don’t need a new mission.

Maybe you need new eyes for the life you already have.

WHAT’S A KINGDOM EXPRESSION?

A Kingdom Expression is the ordinary context where you intentionally live as a follower of Jesus:

with the people already around you,
in the places you already go,
doing the things you already do,
using what you already have,
responding to the needs and opportunities in front of you.

It might be your workplace.

Your neighborhood.

Your family.

Your classroom.

Your sports team.

Your art community.

Your favorite coffee shop.

Your Kingdom Expression doesn’t have to look like a church program.

Normal life. Kingdom eyes.

SIX QUESTIONS

Take a few minutes and ask yourself:

1. PEOPLE

Who am I already spending time with?

Family. Coworkers. Neighbors. Friends. Teams. Communities.

2. PLACES

Where do I already go regularly?

Work. Home. School. Neighborhood. Gym. Coffee shop.

3. ACTIVITIES

What am I already doing?

Hobbies. Sports. Recreation. Family rhythms. Community activities.

4. RESOURCES

What do I already have in my hands?

Time. Skills. Experience. Home. Tools. Money. Relationships. A listening ear.

5. NEEDS & OPPORTUNITIES

What do I keep noticing?

Loneliness. Pain. Injustice. Need. Curiosity. Opportunity. People who could use encouragement.

6. THE BELOVED

Who could run with me?

What other followers of Jesus already share some of these people, places, or passions?

LOOK FOR THE OVERLAP

Now step back and look at your answers.

Where do several of them intersect?

Maybe you have:

coworkers you see every day

  • a flexible lunch schedule
  • a gift for listening
  • younger employees who seem lonely
  • a Christian coworker who cares about the same people.

That may be the beginning of a Kingdom Expression.

And the first step probably isn’t:

“Let’s start a ministry.”

It may simply be:

“Want to grab lunch?”

START SMALL

You don’t need a five-year plan.

Try one small experiment.

PRAY

Ask Jesus to help you see the people around you.

NOTICE

Pay attention to where relationships, needs, and opportunities overlap.

EXPERIMENT

Invite someone to lunch.

Learn a neighbor’s name.

Open your home.

Encourage a coworker.

Ask a better question.

Listen longer.

Small acts of faithful presence can become Kingdom possibilities.

YOU MAY ALREADY BE STANDING IN YOUR MISSION FIELD

Your Kingdom Expression doesn’t need a building.

It doesn’t need a budget.

It doesn’t need a title.

And it doesn’t need to become another thing competing for your time.

It may simply be the life you already have—lived with greater attention to Jesus and the people he has placed around you.

Normal life. Kingdom eyes.
